“If birds are already nesting in your roof, then destroying the nest is a wildlife crime. With the new Wildlife and Natural Environment Act in Northern Ireland, it means that ‘reckless’ or accidental damage will be an offence. It sounds a bit dramatic, but ‘reckless damage’ means the onus will now be on individuals to ensure the correct advice is sought and that necessary checks and surveys will be carried out. This will be particularly important for any works during the breeding season,” Lynne Peoples, RSPB
