- “If birds are
already nesting in your roof, then destroying the nest is a wildlife
crime. With the new Wildlife and Natural Environment Act in Northern
Ireland, it means that ‘reckless’ or accidental damage will be an
offence. It sounds a bit dramatic, but ‘reckless damage’ means the onus
will now be on individuals to ensure the correct advice is sought and
that necessary checks and surveys will be carried out. This will be
particularly important for any works during the breeding season,” Lynne
Peoples, RSPB
